Overview
This policy explains how the HydroGuard mobile application handles information. It applies to the Android and iOS versions of HydroGuard. HydroGuard is a general wellness tool, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.
We designed HydroGuard around data minimization: collect no account data, keep the hydration record local, and ask only for the location precision needed for nearby weather.
Data stored on your device
HydroGuard stores the following information in the app's local device storage:
- body weight, activity level, unit preference, and local-weather consent choice;
- custom vessel names and sizes;
- today's hydration total and the time a vessel was last used;
- basic app preferences needed to restore your experience; and
- the single latest rounded weather area, response, expiration, and response validator. It expires after six hours and is removed on the next app start or weather refresh.
HydroGuard does not create an account or upload this information to a HydroGuard server. The information can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app. Device backups, if enabled at the operating-system level, are controlled by your device and platform settings; HydroGuard disables Android app backup.
Weather and approximate location
Before requesting location, HydroGuard shows an in-app disclosure and asks you to agree. Choosing Not now leaves the baseline hydration target in place and no location request is made. If you agree and grant permission, HydroGuard uses your location while the app is in use to request nearby temperature, humidity, and elevation. Coordinates are rounded before transmission and sent over HTTPS to the MET Norway Locationforecast service. HydroGuard does not retain raw coordinates, store a location history, request background location permission, or refresh location in the background.
The local weather cache is reused only for the same rounded 0.1-degree area, is replaced when a different area is requested, expires after six hours, and is removed on the next app start or weather refresh. It is one short-lived latest-area record, not a location history.
Information sent for weather
- rounded latitude and longitude;
- standard request information such as IP address and app identifier; and
- no name, email address, HydroGuard profile, or drink log.
MET Norway may process request and network information in its service logs under its own terms and policies. Weather data is provided by MET Norway under CC BY 4.0.
Your choices
Location permission is optional. You can deny or revoke it in device settings; the core drink-logging experience continues to work, but weather-based target adjustments will be unavailable. You can delete local HydroGuard information by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.
Children's privacy
HydroGuard is a general-audience wellness app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because there are no accounts or HydroGuard servers, we have no user profile to identify or remove remotely.
Policy changes
If HydroGuard's data practices materially change, this page will be updated before the change takes effect and the effective date above will be revised. Store listing disclosures will also be updated when required.
Contact and support
Questions about this policy or the app can be emailed to admin@gammystudios.com. This page and support address are also the public product contact used when HydroGuard requests weather from MET Norway.
